Why Female-Founded Startups shouldn’t be overlooked
Venture capital investment in female founded companies represented just 2.8% of capital invested across the entire U.S. startup ecosystem in 2019. Yet studies show female-founded startups deliver twice as much per dollar invested as those founded by men. In a study published by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), for every dollar of funding, women-owned startups had generated 78 cents in revenue, while those founded by men had generated less than half that amount—just 31 cents. Early stage investing is just as much about who you are investing in as the idea, the potential market opportunity, business fundamentals, or technology, and so investors serve themselves well by being mindful of the entrepreneurs they are supporting.
